Profile / description of scientific interests  

M.Sc. Eng. Maciej Gibas is affiliated with the Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the Cracow University of Technology. He serves as the Dean’s Representative for the organization of training, courses, and summer schools, as well as a research and teaching assistant. Throughout his career, he combines scientific, educational, and organizational activities, enabling him to effectively implement innovative solutions in fields related to automation, electrical engineering, materials engineering, and artificial intelligence.

His scientific interests encompass a wide range of topics, including the design and optimization of intelligent control systems, the use of artificial intelligence in medical imaging diagnostics, and research on intelligent materials, particularly magnetorheological elastomers. In his research activities, Maciej Gibas focuses on developing machine learning algorithms that can be used to analyze tomographic images for diagnostic purposes.

Maciej Gibas is also an auxiliary supervisor of the el-RAPPRO Student Scientific Circle, which brings together students engaged in rapid prototyping using 3D printing. Together with the circle’s members, he works on projects related to the optimization of 3D printing processes as well as the construction of modern devices such as LCD resin printers. In this context, technical solutions are being developed to control the trajectory of light beams and optimize resin curing processes. This activity fits into the broader context of research on functional materials and methods for their precise formation.

As part of his duties, he carries out pre-implementation work (TRL 4.0) related to electrostatic chain technology. He has experience in collaboration with industry, reflected in his participation in implementation projects and patent processes.

As an educator, Maciej Gibas is dedicated to nurturing young talent. He teaches courses on circuit theory and contributes to the development of educational programs. He is the author of the didactic textbook titled *”Theory and Analysis of Circuits: An Overview of Basic Tools Used in Electrical Circuit Analysis.”* In his educational approach, he emphasizes the development of competencies related to engineering design and solving real-world technical problems.

Maciej Gibas is a man of diverse scientific interests, which he integrates through the implementation of interdisciplinary research and educational projects. His primary goal is to transfer scientific knowledge into practical applications in engineering and medicine. By advancing artificial intelligence, intelligent materials, and advanced control systems, he aims to create innovative tools that can have a tangible impact on improving the quality of life for society.

Summary of achievements:

As of December 12, 2024, M.Sc. Eng. Maciej Gibas has carried out a number of research and educational projects. As part of his scientific activities, he received the 2nd Degree Award from the Professor Janusz Magiera Foundation for the Promotion of Young Talents for his research on the use of waste from wind power plants in 3D printing technology. He was also awarded the title of “Student Scientist” in the “Sapphire Dragons” competition. His works have been repeatedly recognized at University Scientific Circle Sessions as well as in competitions for the best engineering projects, including the “Engineer 4 Science” competition.

He is the author of the academic textbook *”Theory and Analysis of Electrical Circuits,”* which is well-regarded by students. In collaboration with the el-RAPPRO Student Scientific Circle, he actively develops innovative projects in the field of rapid prototyping and 3D printing.

Maciej Gibas holds a PRINCE2 Foundation-level certificate, which confirms his competencies in the management of research and educational projects. His interdisciplinary approach to science ensures that his work finds applications both in industry and the healthcare sector. He has delivered numerous oral presentations at scientific conferences, with a significant portion of them being of an international nature.
