Profile / description of scientific interests

Jakub Pietraszewski began his 4-year engineering studies at the Cracow University of Technology, starting a course in Chemical and Process Engineering in 2022, with a specialization in Engineering of Technological Processes. Since 2023, he has been scientifically involved with the Student Club of Applied Photochemistry at Cracow University of Technology, where he is gaining scientific experience. His research interests focus on photochemical processes, mainly photopolymerization and its practical applications, such as 3D printing. He conducts systematic evaluations of 3D printing technologies, analyzing printer performance and process parameters to assess the quality, resolution and accuracy of the produced structures.

He has been gaining his scientific experience in the National Science Center of Poland projects OPUS 20 (LAP) 2020/39/I/ST5/03556 under the supervision of Joanna Ortyl, PhD, Prof. of CUT, where he conducted research on the characterization of new polymer nanocomposites with high reactivity, dedicated to VAT photopolymerization technologies, in order to optimize the mechanical, thermal and adhesive properties of the obtained 3D prints. He is now expanding his knowledge and skills in the OPUS 21 2021/41/B/ST5/04533 project under the same mentorship, where he is responsible for research on the use of functionalized carbon dots as initiators in 3D VAT printing technologies, supporting these activities with advanced spectroscopic methods to analyze process efficiency. He is also a contractor in the LIDER13/0156/2022 project under the supervision of Monika Topa-Skwarczyńska, PhD, where he is responsible for developing innovative formulations of photopolymer resins dedicated to dental applications and their authentication through modern 3D VAT technologies. He actively promotes science by participating in chemical demonstrations and workshops organized by the Student Club of Applied Photochemistry at the Department of Chemical and Process Engineering.
